Mrs. Gloria Ann Moorer Calhoun was born in Cope, South Carolina on August 22, 1962, to the late L.C. and Maedell Rivers Moorer. She departed this life on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Regional Medical Center.
Gloria joined Life in the Word Holiness Church in Cope at an early age. She attended Edisto District Schools and graduated from Edisto High School. She will be missed from spending time with all of her grandchildren, telling jokes and sharing that friendly smile with everyone she came in contact with.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, one brother, two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and a nephew.
Gloria leaves to cherish her fond memories: her husband, John Calhoun of the home; two sons, Derrick Moorer (Lakeisha) of Columbia, SC; Shawn Moorer of Orangeburg, SC and two daughters, Jessica L. Calhoun, and Jasmine B. Calhoun, both of Orangeburg SC; twelve grandchildren Jahi’rek Daniels, Jamaiya Backmon, A’zaria Johnson, Zy’meria Backmon, Jay’den Johnson, Londyn Calhoun, A’laya Calhoun, Khi’son Calhoun, Chase Smith, Ja’Khi Smith, Ja’Kori Smith, and Elijah Lee, all of Orangeburg, SC. Five sisters, Eartha M. Smith, Mattie M. (Harvey) Bonaparte, Linda M. Odom of Cope, SC, Julia M. Moorer of Columbia, SC, and St. Claire M. (Tyrone) Kennerly of Orangeburg, SC; three brothers Edward (Mary Ann) Moorer, L.C. (Joyce) Moorer and David Moorer of Orangeburg, SC. A mother-in-law and father-in-law Pastor Gladys Busby and Charles Busby, Sr. of Cope, SC, two sisters-in-law, Shelia Moorer of Orangeburg SC, Reverend Lisa Myers of Cope, SC, six brothers-in-law, Charles Busby, Jr., Richard Calhoun, James Calhoun, Don Myers of Cope, SC, Kendell Green of Cordova, SC and Tony Busby, of Orangeburg, SC; six nephews, eight nieces, a special neighbor, Ms. Iris Lott as well as a host of other aunts and uncles, relatives, and friends she loved so dearly.
Th service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Saturday, November 12,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home from 2:00pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, November 13,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 1:00pm. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
