George William Bowman, aged 62, passed away on June 25th, 2024, in Staten Island NY. Born on November 19, 1962, in Bowman SC. George was a lifelong embodiment of joy and vigor, loved dearly by his family and a wide circle of friends.
George spent his childhood and early education in his hometown, attending Bowman Elementary school and Bowman High. He later moved to New York where he built a long-standing career with Waste Management, dedicating many years of service to the community.
A sports enthusiast, George’s passion for football and basketball is well known among his peers. His love for the games was only parallel by his devotion to his family and friends. George’s vibrant personality and readiness to support others left an indelible mark on all who knew him, especially his classmates and wonderful friends.
He is survived by his mother, Edna M Bowman, his significant other, Catherine Butler, his daughter Jennifer Bowman; stepdaughters, Holly Davis and Catherine Shipman, six grandchildren, Chance, Preston, Bethany, Holly, Harmony, and Wynter. His sister, Helen Marie Johnson all from Bronx, and Middletown, NY. His extended family includes aunts Helen Justine Brown, Bowman, S.C., Barbara Bowman, Orangeburg, S.C. and Elaine Bowman Molinia, Lakewood, NJ. uncles Eddie Bowman, Orangeburg, S.C., Ralph A. Molinia Lakewood, NJ and Steven R. Davis, Washingtonville, NY and many cousins, classmates and friends.
George was preceded in death by his loving grandparents Pinkie C Bowman and Connie Mae Bowman, uncles Cicero Bowman, John C. Bowman, Andrew” Pop” Brown and cousins Timothy Jaden Davis and Andrew “Bo” Brown.
The family will receive friends and relatives at McCall Bronxwood Funeral Home 4035 Bronxwood Ave. Bronx, NY 10466 on Saturday July 6, 2024, between 2:00 and 5:00 PM. Visitation will be July 10th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at The Glover Funeral Home 2562 Charleston Highway, Orangeburg SC. The Graveside service and interment will be in The Bowman Family Cemetery off Reeseville Road, Bowman, S.C.

There will be no public viewing.The family will greet friends on Wednesday, July 10,2024 from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Glover’s Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 11,2024 at Bowman Family Cemetery beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
