Gearline Felder Obituary

Ms. Gearline Felder was born on September 24,1951 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Maceo Shuler, Sr., and the late Daisy Whitmore Shuler. On Sunday, April 14, 2024, Gearline transitioned into eternal rest at the Lexington Community Hospice House in Lexington, South Carolina.
Gearline joined Forest Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age. Gearline served on the Usher Board and the Gospel Choir for 40 years. Gearline attended Orangeburg Public Schools and graduated from Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Gearline was the neighborhood babysitter and caretaker for twenty plus years. Gearline also worked for a short span at Ambler Industries in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
Gearline was a very jolly person and always had a smile. Gearline enjoyed spending time at the Orangeburg County Council on Aging in Orangeburg, South Carolina where she was the “Bingo Queen.” And Gearline enjoyed walking. She was affectionately called “Mama Gearl” by her children.
Gearline was united in marriage to the late James Laverne Felder on November 12, 1971, and to this union two beautiful children were born.
Gearline was preceded in death by two sisters: Sarah Casey and Earnestine “Doll” Simmons and her four brothers: Ernest Shuler, Sr., Maceo Shuler, Jr., Hercules Shuler, and David Shuler.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: One daughter, Sharone Yvonne (Barson) Felder Lee of Stone Mountain, Georgia; One son, Jamie Devon Felder of Gwinnett,Georgia. Two grandsons, Trea’Vyaughne Shabezz Lee of Stone Mountain, Georgia and DeVonte’ Jamie Felder of Cummings, Georgia and a bonus granddaughter, Jayla; Two sisters: Daisy Dickerson and Pearline (Benjamin)Banks “her twin,” both of Orangeburg, South Carolina: Four Sisters-in-law: Rhodia Mae (Curtis) Spells of Columbia, South Carolina, Evelyn Thomas of White Plains, New York, Rosa Jacques, and Eartha Coulter both of Orangeburg, South Carolina. Two special nephews; Tommie Lee Shuler and James Shuler both of Orangeburg; A special niece, Janet Felder Fields of
Orangeburg, South Carolina; Special family friends; Ms. Lula Simon and Denise Simon both of Orangeburg, South Carolina. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

 

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Monday, April 22,2024 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 23,2024 at Forest Chapel United Methodist Church beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulation.
