Mrs. Florence Thompson Brandyburg, the daughter of the late Henry Thompson and Nettie Brown Thompson, was born February 7, 1935, in Williamsburg County. God gave her a peaceful rest after knowing her family was well taken care of. Grateful for her four children and ten grandchildren.
Florence grew up in Kingstree-Hemingway, South Carolina and attended Claflin University where she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. She married Hubert Leon Brandyburg and they resigned in Bowman, South Carolina attending Pineville United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School, a part of the Church Board of Trustees, President, and Vice-President of the Church Gospel Choir. She received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from South Carlina State College, in Orangeburg SC. An Educator for thirty-six years at Branchville Elementary School. Florence was very active in the community with Les Madam Club, a member of the Orangeburg Retired Teachers Organization, Member of the Sterling Light Chapter #369 order of Eastern Stars. She even sold Avon in the community. During her time attending the Thompson Family Reunion, she would have a record of all that was in attendance by signing their name in a spiral notebook. Before her demise, Florence spent two years with her son Robert Cornell (Clonzie) Brandyburg, and the last two and half years with her daughter Leona Bridjett (Westley) Guyton.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: her children (and their spouses); Ms. Philippa Brandyburg of Hinesville GA, Rev. Dr. Leona Bridjett Guyton (Pastor Westley Guyton) of North Augusta, SC, Mr. Hubert Tyrone Brandyburg (Mary Brandyburg) of Flat Rock, NC, Mr. Robert Cornell Brandyburg (Clonzie Brandyburg) of Charlotte, NC; ten Grandchildren; Krystal Monique Brandyburg, Westley Leon Guyton, Wes Un’Sel Guyton, Micah Weslyn Guyton, Jason Edward Brandyburg, Jared Alexander Brandyburg, Jacob Isaiah Brandyburg, Wyntra Amira Brandyburg, Xavier Cornell Brandyburg, and Sydney Deanna Brandyburg; She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hubert Leon Brandyburg, she had three sisters, Candis Pinckney from Hemingway SC, Francis Cameron from Bronx NY, reared as a sister Nettie Pearl Christian, from East Bronx, New York; three brothers that also preceded her in death, Robert Thompson from Kingstreet, SC, Henry Thompson from Charleston SC, and George Thompson (Anna B. Thompson, last surviving sister-in-law,) from Pawleys Island SC. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The viewing will be held on Friday, May 24,2024 at Glover's Funeral Home from 2:00pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 25,2024 at Pineville United Methodist Church 1808 Winter Creek Rd. Bowman, SC 29018 beginning at 1:00pm. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
