Mrs. Evelyn Livingston Haywood departed this life on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. She was born October 31, 1936 to the late Luther and Ruth Williams Livingston. Evelyn L. Haywood joined St. Stephens United Methodist Church at an early age. She attended G.W. Carver High School in Cope, South Carolina. She was married to the late Berkley Haywood and moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. To this union two sons were born. Gerald Pernell Haywood and Berkley Rogers Haywood, Jr. Evelyn joined St. Andrews Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Evelyn was employed as a Kindergarten Teacher for nine years at Tiny Tim Kindergarten in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She retired from Forsyth County School System after 23 years of service. In 2006, she returned to Orangeburg, South Carolina and joined Edisto Fork United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Gerald, 3 siblings Luther Livingston, Jr., Rogers Livingston, and Edna Keitt. Evelyn leaves to cherish fond memories; son Berkley (Terry) Haywood, Jr. of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two brothers, Edward (Justine), of Orangeburg, South Carolina, John (Peggy) Allen, of Riverdale, Georgia. One Uncle Daniel Williams, of Orangeburg; One Aunt Albertha Workman, of Columbia, Maryland. Two grandsons; Torez Black, of Atlanta, Georgia and Tarell D. Black, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Four granddaughters; Cashawnda Martin, Miami, Florida, Bianca Lynn Biay, The Philippines, Simone Hampton, of Virginia, and Beneshada Allen, of Florida. Four great-grandsons; Donovan Black, Winston-Salem North Carolina, Blue Marcus Williams, Giannis Dream Williams, The Philippines and Nicholas Stephens, Greensboro, North Carolina; Six great-granddaughters; T’maya and Teriana Melton, of Winston-Salem, Eunice Williams and Evelyn Montalbo, The Philippines, Ariel Allen, Dominican Republic, and Destinee Hampton, of Virginia, Godson Larry Bates, of Winston-Salem;, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Saturday, March 16,2024 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, March 17,2024 at Edisto Fork United Methodist Church 356 Lariot Rd. Orangeburg, SC beginning at 1:00pm. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
