Ethel Lee was born January 4, 1966, to Willie Mae Bowers and the late James Bowers in Bamberg, SC. At an early age, Ethel Lee moved to Florida with her aunt, the Late Carrie Rose, and uncle, the late Tyrone Jerido.
Ethel Lee attended the public schools of Highlands County, in Lake Placid, Florida, Orangeburg-Wilkerson High School in Orangeburg, SC, and The Barbizon Modeling School of  Columbia, South Carolina.
At an early age, Ethel Lee became a member of Action Revival Worship Center under the leadership of the late Bishop Major (Mildred) Callahan.
In later years, Lee moved back to South Carolina and worked for Exxon and the Chestnut Grill in Orangeburg. In 1987, she met and married her husband, David Gibson. As a truck driver, she traveled with her husband to different states.
Lee was a fun-loving person and she enjoyed life. She loved to cook, travel, and she loved her animals. She was the kind of person that you could always count on when needed. She will truly be missed.
Ethel departed this life on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at her residence.
Ethel’s maternal grandparents: King Solomon and Carrie Myers; her paternal grandparents, her father James Bowers, Sr. and her brother Alfred Bowers, all preceded her in death.
Lee leaves to cherish her memories: Her Husband, David Gibson of Houston, Texas, her loving mother, Willie Mae Bowers of Orangeburg, SC. One Sister: Patricia (Charles) Hill of Santee, SC, Two brothers: James (Mickey) Bowers, Jr. and Leroy Bowers of Orangeburg, SC. Three aunts: Caroline Fields of Orangeburg, SC. Dr. Julia Myers of Miami, Fl, and Pastor Ida Jeffcoat of Savannah, Ga. One Great Aunt: Janie Jones of Cordova, SC. Special friend: Luther Lambright of Orangeburg, SC. Caregiver: Chris Gallman of Orangeburg, SC. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.


The service will proceed as follows: 


The viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 13,2026 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm. 


The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 14,2026 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am.
