Emma J. Baliem

Emma Julia Baliem, 79, of Orangeburg, South Carolina, passed away on January 21, 2021. She was born to parents Eugene and Ollie Mae Colter, on August 8, 1941 in Orangeburg, South Carolina. 

She was married and raised two daughters with Ray C. Baliem until his death in 1995. She was beloved in her family and community and was known to be a giver and helper to many. 

Emma worked as a receptionist and in office management for a number of years. She retired from at Husqvarna (formerly American Yard Products-AYP) in 2011. 

She was a dedicated and active member of St. John United Methodist Church where she served in various capacities as an usher, communion steward, gospel choir member and a lay speaker. 

Emma is survived by Mable (Earl) Hilton, daughter, Geneva (Furman) Mintz (daughter), Grandchildren: Chandra Scott, Alicia (Eric) Greene, Eric Houser, Abranda Donovan, Furman Mintz, Willie Earl Hilton Jr., Phillip Scott, Courtney Hilton, and John Scott. Her siblings: Blanche Sistrunk, Lucille Colter, Eugene (Bubba) Colter Jr., Vernell Felder, Vertell (Johnnie Lee) Robinson, Arleatha (Clifford) Hampton, Charles Colter, Herbert (Joyce) Colter, Hubert (Marie) Colter, Odessa Sharperson, and Dan Jasper (Yvette) Colter. She also leaves behind 16 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by Ray C. Baliem, spouse, Eugene and Ollie Mae Colter, parents, and Mabelle Lane, (sister) Ella Mae Major (sister).

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 27,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home at 11:30 am until 2:00 pm and 4:30pm until 7:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 28,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 1:00pm.
