Elnora Whetstone Obituary

On August 7, 2021, Elnora Whetstone transitioned into eternal peace at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC, following an extended illness. Elnora was born in Calhoun County on May 7, 1952, to the late Lemuel C. Pimble, Sr. and the late Mozell Thomas Pimble.
She was a member of the 1970 graduating class of Wilkerson High School in Orangeburg, SC, and continued her education at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. She was employed as a Medical Secretary with Orangeburg Regional Hospital and Family Health Center until an illness prevented her from working. She is listed on the Wall of Honor of the Orangeburg Regional Hospital for her dedicated services as an employee.
Elnora was a member of Bull Swamp Baptist Church and always professed her faith and devotion to the Lord. As a faithful sheep of the Lord, she continued to lead young souls to Christ by mentoring them, and directing the children’s choir. Elnora was also a crossword puzzle aficionado, who firmly believed in “each one, teach one.” Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23, because the Lord was truly her shepherd; and her life’s motto was “I’m Blessed and Highly Favored!”
She always nurtured, motivated, and helped others in any capacity that she could. Elnora brought joy, laughter, and comfort to all whom she met, and she never met a stranger. She truly believed that God showed her the real strength of her heart so that she could be a continuous testimony and blessing to others. Even when she was in excruciating pain from her illness, if asked how she was doing, she would exclaim with elation “I’m Super Fantastic!”
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mr. Hubert Whetstone, Sr., and her loving aunt and godmother, Mrs. Frances Wright.
Elnora leaves to cherish her precious memories, one son, Hubert Whetstone, Jr.; two daughters, Cherietta (Michael) Corley, and Yolanda Whetstone; two sisters, Reverend Dorothy P. Waymer, and Ms. Willadean Howell; one brother, Mr. Lemuel Pimble, Jr.; grandchildren, Shanequa Whetstone, Ke’Andra (Herbert) Johnson, Ashley Holmes, Dafphon Whetstone, Yukuba Holmes, Jr., Breannah Black, Gloria Whetstone, Michaela Corley, Sasha Black, Brycen Whetstone, Michael Corley, Jr., Khalliq Whetstone, and Zaniyah Whetstone; two great-grandchildren, Markus Johnson, Jr., and Sabri Johnson; one god daughter, Ramona Chanelle Houser; two special nieces, Deidra Waymer, and Mrs. Sandra Waymer; two devoted lifetime friends, Joann Shirer-Mitchell, and Sherry James; and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends too numerous to name.
