Our mother, Elease Gardner, was 99 when she earned her wings. She was born February 1, 1923 in Saint Matthews, South Carolina. Her parents were Samuel and Lily Lucas.
She had five sisters, Margaret Lucas, Rosa Lucas Davis, Edna Lucas Evans, Pauline Lucas and Helen Lucas who preceded her in death. Mom also had six children; three who preceded her in death, Lillian A. Harris, Patricia A. Joyner and Mervin Clark.
She leaves to cherish her memories, Romeo Gardner, Jr. (Mary), Dorothy A. Jenkins, and Brenda A. Glover (Nathan). She also leaves to cherish her memories, a great number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and lots of relatives and friends. Mom was one of Gods’ children, just as we are, who lived her life one breath at a time. During a conversation, Dorothy and her mother talked about forgiveness. She told Dorothy Ann, forgiveness is a gift from God. Mom is gone but she will not be forgotten.
