Edna Nicks Obituary

Mrs. Edna Louise Hagan Nicks, a native of Jacksonville,Flordia, was born March 15,1941 to the late Enoch and Esther Hagan. She departed this life on Monday, July 12,2020, after a courageous 12 year battle with Alzhemier's. 

Edna was educated in the public schools of Jacksonville,Flordia. She spent most of her Adult life in Orangeburg,South Carolina. Edna was married to the late Harold Nicks of Orangeburg,South Carolina and they have 6 children.

Edna worked for many years as a domestic work in the home of Attorney's Charles Williams and Senator Brad and Tray Hutto. Edna was also employed at Amber's Industries for many years.

Edna was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church on Sprinkle Ave, Orangeburg,SC. Later moving her membership to Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leaderships of Pastor Brooks, Pastor Henry Damion and Pastor Nathan Brown. She was a faithful member and worker in oth churches. She was an faithful usher and a member of the Choir serving until her health failed and her children moved her from South Carolina back to Florida. 

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband: Harold Nicks, mother-in-law: Mrs. Rosa L. Nicks, son: George Nix, and grandson: Diron Nix; 3 Brothers: Floyd, Herbert and Eugene Hagan; 4 Sisters: Teresa Davis, Hazel Hagan, Delores Dunn and Carrie Mae Smith.

Edna leaves to cherish her memories: 2sons: Gregory(Peggy) Nicks of Rockledge,FL; Michael (Rita) Nicks of Carson,California; 3 daughters: Jennifer (Niecey) Jackson of Atlanta,Georgia, Brenda (Thomas) of Davenport,Flordia and Harriette (Ronald) Walker of Rockledge,Flordia; daughter-in-law: Barbara (George) Nix od Atlanta,Georgia; 2 sisters-in-law: Barbara (Richard) Zimmerman of Orangeburg,SC; 3 brothers-in-law: Earl Nicks of Triangle,Virginia and Eddie Nicks of Orangeburg, South Carolina; 1 brother: James (Lorraine) of Decatur,Georgia; 2 sisters: Lena (Dave) Allen and Annette Marcus both of Jacksonville,Flordia.

Edna was the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren: The late Diron Nix, Brooke and Summer Nicks, Latisha, Kenneth and Dimel Baston, Christopher (Christian), Jessica and Tasha Bowman, Joshua and Hannah Chase and Brittany and Brandon Walker. 21 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, reelatives and friends. The family would also like to acknowledge her life-long friends that became 2nd mothers to us as she progressed through her illness: Rev. Celia A. Glover, Mrs.Betty Baker and Mrs. Louise Smallls, we honor you for stepping in the gap and loving on us for so many years.

The Service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Friday, July 24,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 2:00pm until 7:00pm. 

A graveside will be held on Saturday, July 25,2020 at Belleville Memorial Gardens beginning at 11:00am.
