Mrs. Deboah Joyce Heatley Gaffney, daughter of Mrs. Marguerite Heatley and the late James Heatley Sr., she was born May 8, 1964 in St Matthews, South Carolina. She entered into eternal rest on January 16, 2020.
She graduated from St Matthews High school in 1982 and later received her Associated Degree from Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College in Business Administration. She was a dedicated member at Brookland Baptist Church, where she was also a member of the choir.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her husband and her girls. Her family was everything to her. She was an admiring assistant teacher at Saxa Gotha Elementary and later continued her career at Carolina Springs Middle School; Deborah loved and cherished all of her students throughout the years and was blessed to have the opportunity to teach.
In 1991, she married Nelson S Gaffney, to their union were two beautiful daughters, Tabitha and Maria..
In her spare time, Deborah spent time providing care for SPED children through her business Respite Care. She loved to support her daughters in their extracurricular activities throughout their school years, travel, explore new foods and her Dallas Cowboys football team.
Deborah leaves to cherish her very fond memories: her loving Husband, Nelson S Gaffney, and her two dedicated daughters, Tabitha S Gaffney of Charlotte NC and Maria D Gaffney,of Lexington SC. Her loving mother, Mrs Marguerite Heatley of St Matthews, a devoted and loving brother James (Shalonya M.) Heatley of Newport News, Virginia. She also leaves her Mother and Father in law, Mr. and Mrs. Albert (Esther) Washington, (Orangeburg SC) three sister in laws and two brother in laws; Mrs Deborah (Roy) Haigler, (Orangeburg SC) and Mrs Eve (Nathan) Lighty (Orangeburg SC), three nephews, Andrew Lee, (Nashville, TN), Ja’Shawn C.Heatley, (Newport News,Virginia) and Treyvean Haigler, (Orangeburg SC), two nieces, Kionie M.Heatley ( Newport News, Virginia) and Nathalie Lighty, (Orangeburg SC) whom she loved dearly. And host of Aunts, Uncles, cousins and friends.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Thursday, January 23,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 1:00pm-8:00pm.
The funeral service will be held on Friday,January 24,2020 at New Mt.Zion Baptist Church 1739 Amelia St. Orangeburg,SC 29115 beginning at 11:00am.
