Willie Joseph Ulmer, Sr. passed away on Friday, November 22,2024. He was a resident of Cameron, SC. Willie was born on November 7,1936 to the late Deacon James Ulmer and Alma Baxter Ulmer in Cameron, SC.
Willie was a Deacon at New Mt. Zion for 22years. He retired after he devoted service in 2023. He also retired from United Technologies in Norwalk, CT and served in the Air force for 4years.
After retirement Willie returned to Cameron, where he built a home and became a farmer. During this time, he became a school bus driver and a substitute teacher. He enjoyed selling vegetables, fishing and most of all serving in the church.
Deacon Ulmer will proceed in death by his wife: Hazel Ulmer; son: Willie J. Ulmer, Jr.; parents: Deacon James Ulmer and Alma Ulmer; brother: Carl Ulmer and sister: Jean V. James.
Deacon Ulmer leaves to cherish his fond memories to his son: Kevin (Dolores)Ulmer, daughter: Davina Ulmer, three sisters: Thelma (Johnny) Murdaugh, Loretta (Rev. Booker T.) Whetstone, and Lessie V. Hunter; three brothers: Albert Z. (Debra) Ulmer, George (Sirvasteen) Ulmer and James (Linda) Ulmer, III and a host of nieces, nephews and grandchildren that will miss him dearly.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Thursday, December 5,2024 at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church 1785 Amelia St. Orangeburg, SC from 10:00am until 11:00am.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 6,2024 at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church 1785 Amelia St. Orangeburg, SC beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
