Deacon Herman Lee Preston of Manning, SC traded labor for reward on Monday, June 16, 2025 in Florence, SC with his beloved wife by his side. Deacon Preston was born June 18, 1960 to the late Daniel and Ola Mae Preston in Bowman, SC.
Mr. Preston occupation was a Truck Driver for 40years and that was his passion. Mr. Preston was chairman of the Deacon Board at Antioch Baptist Church in Bowman, SC.
Mr. Preston joined in holy matrimony to Michelle Merchant Preston on June 29, 2002. Herman gained five children Andre, Marquis and Kelli Merchant, Derek (Tenita) Neals and Zion Daniels; six grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Herman was known as “Mojo” to his trucking handles. Mojo was well known to his family as “Chuck the Monster”. He took his niece Shanda Simmons, nephews Desmond and Malcolm as his own children.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: Nelson, Daniel, Jr., Freddie, Nathaniel and Walker, Jr., two sisters: Patricia and Diane, mother in law Evelyn Merchant, brother in law Raymond Tate, and a sister in law whom he adored Joyce Merchant.
Herman leaves to cherish his fond memories his beloved wife Michelle “Honey” Preston of the home; Kelli S. Merchant of Andrews, SC; Andre Merchant, Sr. of Colonial Heights, VA; Marquis Merchant of Colonial Heights, VA; six grandchildren all of whom he cherished and helped rear; his siblings: Virginia Preston, Mary Brown, Elaine (Skyrol) Brown, Monna (Lawanda) Preston and Sandra Daniels (Troy Flood); grandchildren: Elasia, Promise, AJ, London, Marquis II, and his “BooBoo” Khloe and a host of cousins, relatives and friends that will miss him dearly.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Friday, June 20,2025 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm. 

The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 21,2025 at Antioch Baptist Church 7640 Charleston Hwy. Bowman, SC 29018 beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all of COVID-19 rules and regulations.
