Cynthia Sharon Riley, daughter of the late Robert Zimmerman, Sr. and Eva Mae Mack was born January 13,1961 in Bowman, South Carolina. She entered into eternal rest at her home on May 14,2026.
Cynthia was affectionately known as “Punchie” by her family. She was a beautiful person who always had a smile and lots of laughter. She always cared about others and enjoyed attending the South Carolina State University football games. She was an active member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, INC.
Cynthia graduated from Bowman High School in 1979 and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from South Carolina State University in 1983. She then went on and earned her Master’s Degree in Education in 1985.
Cynthia was a hard-working and devoted public school teacher. She demonstrated these qualities by teaching at the Orangeburg Consolidated School District 4 for 33years and for a few years at the Dawn Center. During her 33years of teaching she was “Teacher of the Year” twice in her career.
Cynthia was an active member of Mount Baptist Church of Bowman, South Carolina. She cheerfully rendered her services to God and her church. She served as Financial Clerk/Payroll, member of the Praise Team, Member of the Women of Zion Ministry, Member of the Sunday School/Teacher, Member of the Usher Board and the Tuesday Morning Prayer Ministry.
Cynthia met and married Raymond Riley in 1994.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers Robert Zimmerman, Jr. and Paul Zimmerman.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories her sister Andrea (Michael) Foreman of Raytown, MO; two sister-in-laws Thresa Zimmerman of Orangeburg, SC and Nancy Zimmerman of Columbia, SC; two uncles Deacon Leroy (Martha) Zimmerman and Earvin Smith; five aunts Dorothy Zimmerman of Bronx, NY; Ella Mae (Ron) Moskowitz, Mae Ella(Emmanuel) Notoma, Barbara Zimmerman, Donnis Zimmerman and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The service will proceed as follows: 

The viewing will be held on Friday, May 22,2026 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.

An Omega Omega Service will be held on Friday, May 22,2026 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 6:00pm. 

The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 23,2026 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 707 Arista Rd. Bowman, SC 29018 beginning at 11:00am.
