Mr. Curtis Johnson, the son of Virginia Johnson and Eddie Johnson (deceased) was born on August 8, 1958. Curtis departed from this life of a brief illness on December 13, 2022 at the age of 64.
Curtis was educated in the public school of Roberts High in Holly Hill, South Carolina. Curtis attended Denmark Technical College to pursue an education in Diesel Mechanics and later matriculated to Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College to major and graduate with a degree in criminal justice. It was there that he met his first wife and mother of his children, Debra Fuller Johnson (deceased).
Curtis was active in the military for over 10 years. He worked at the Orangeburg Detention Center as a correctional officer for 10 years or more, he also worked at Dempsey Wood Products and was a long/local distance truck driver for over 20 years until recently. Curtis was a jack of all trades. He was a self taught electrician, carpenter, plumber, mechanic and he worked at the Orangeburg Golf Course.
Curtis was preceded in death by his father and a grandson (Raekwon Berry).
Survivors who cherish his memory are: his wife, Elaine Johnson of Orangeburg, SC; Virginia Johnson (mother) of Orangeburg, SC; three sons: Michael Johnson (Rhonda), Curtis Mario Johnson, Andre Johnson (Christina) all of Orangeburg, SC; a sister: Annette Johnson of Orangeburg, SC; two brothers: Jackie Johnson and James Johnson, both of Orangeburg, SC; five grandchildren: Destiny Johnson, Malik Johnson, Mikaela Johnson, Josiah Johnson, and Arieyanna Johnson all of Orangeburg, SC; two great grandchildren: Javion James and Messiah Johnson of Orangeburg, SC; six sisters-in-law: Angia Jefferson of Blythewood, SC, Sherry Hughes, Cynthia Johnson, Janie Johnson, Jloundia Johnson and Annie Simpson; a special cousin: Barbara Bookhardt of Orangeburg, SC; a special niece affectionately known as the daughter he never had: Terry Fludd (Barry) of Orangeburg, SC, an aunt; Janie Mae Brown of Columbia, SC, an uncle; B.J. Bookhardt of Elloree, SC, 3 step children, 10 step grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who were all dear to him.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Saturday, December 17,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, December 18,2022 at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church 3425 Old State Rd, Santee, SC 29142 beginning at 1:00pm. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to COVID-19 rules and regulations.
