Mr. Clyde Baxter, was born in Branchville, South Carolina on August 25, 1949. He was the son of the late Ernest Baxter and Carrie Bell Baxter. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, June 19, 2021.
Clyde was educated in the Orangeburg Public School System and was a graduate of Wilkinson High School. He was a start athlete on the basketball and football teams. After high school, he attended Savannah State College and was a football start there as well.
Clyde was also a member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Orangeburg, SC. Clyde was dedicated employee of Pitney-Bowes in Stanford, CT for several years. He was also employed with Hasquarvana in Orangeburg, SC. Clyde love all sports and he was a huge Los Angeles Lakers fan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earnest Baxter, Sr. and sister, Gloria Jean Baxter.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Carrie Bell Baxter of Orangeburg, SC; two children, Nitra Thompson of Stanford, Ct and Jermel (Shanta) Moses of Summerville, SC; 3 grandchildren; brothers, Johnny Baxter of Orangeburg, SC; Jerry Baxter of Bridgeport, CT, Reverend Ernest (Octavia) Baxter, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA and Thomas Baxter of Trenton, NJ and one sister, Gecite (Lucille) Watson of Trenton, NJ; two aunts, Gloria Washington of Columbia, SC and Catherine (John) Fredrick of Flint, MI; and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Clyde was a very sharp dresser who loved to laugh and have a good time. He never met a stranger and always had a huge smile for whoever he encountered.
The service will proceed as follows:
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 28,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 12:00pm.
