Clinton “Clint” Kearse, was born on June 24, 1918, in Bamberg, South Carolina to the late John and Lilly Edwards-Kearse. Clint departed his life on Monday, September 5, 2022, in the comfort of his home.
Clinton was educated in the Bamberg Public School System. He later enlisted in the military during the height of World War II. He was employed at Paragon Steel Company as a truck driver for over 35 years before he relocated to Brooklyn, New York. Shortly thereafter, he met his wife, Mattie Mae. They retired from Brooklyn, New York and moved back to South Carolina with the three (3) beautiful daughters they adopted. In 2018, Clinton joined St. John AME Church in Rowesville, South Carolina where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior
Clinton was preceded in death by his mother, Lilly Edwards-Kearse; his father, John Kearse; his siblings (21); daughter, Barbara Toussant; grandson, Frank Jo’kobe O’Neal Holman and his wife, Mattie Mae Kearse.
Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Pauline Kearse-Grant, Orangeburg, SC, Karen Kearse, Cordova, SC, and Tiffany Kearse, Atlanta, GA; two stepdaughters, Diane T. Wade, Columbia, SC, and Carolyn T. Hill, Orangeburg, SC; one stepson, Reverend Nathaniel Thomas Haynes, Orangeburg, SC; three granddaughters, Cheryl Toussant of Brooklyn, NY, Ciara (Cee Cee) Toussant, Brooklyn, NY and Daisha Rose, Orangeburg, SC; four step granddaughters; Queenesha Myers, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Shayla Wade, Columbia, SC, Adria Wade, Columbia, SC and Imani Huggins, Fort Bragg, NC; two grandsons; Darren Toussant, Brooklyn, NY and Ke’Shawn Lush, Cordova, SC and two step grandsons, Demetrius A. Thomas, Chesapeake, VA, Usavior Saleem Lynch. Brooklyn, NY. eleven nieces; Stephanie Pinder-Gilford, Columbia, SC; Martistine Price, Chesapeake, VA; Elouise Kearse of Brooklyn, NY, LaToya Kearse, Rochester, NY, Pat McClough, NY, Julia Mae Cherry, Brooklyn, NY, Gladis Griffin, Jimmily Williams, and Samuella Williams all of New Ellenton, SC; three nephews, Terrance Williams of New Ellenton, SC, Richmond Williams II, New Ellenton, SC; James Griffin, New Ellenton, SC and numerous great nieces, cousins, and friends.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Monday,September 12,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday,September 13,2022 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
