Calvin Leroy Simpkins

Calvin LeRoy Simpkins was born on April 28, 1955, to the late EW. Simpkins and Lizzie Mae Henley Simpkins. On January 18, 2024 Calvin departed this earthly life and entered eternal rest in Orangeburg, SC.
Calvin received his education in the Saluda County, public schools. Later graduating from Saluda High School in 1973. At an early age Calvin gave his life to Christ by joining the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of Saluda, South Carolina.
After graduating from high school, Calvin joined the Ari Force and traveled extensively overseas. His last duty station was in Tacoma. After retiring, he worked as a security guard for Doyon Security for over 10 years, while in Tacoma Washington. He moved back to his home in South Carolina and lived with his daughter, Christal Scott, who was his caregiver. Calvin's favorite color was burgundy wine and he was a fan of the Seattle Seahawks. He enjoyed learning different languages, listening to jazz music, eating seafood and Chinese food, watching TV, and spending time with his family and friends. He was also a black belt in Karate and JiuJitsu.
Calvin was preceded in death by his Mother Lizzie Mae Henley-Simpkins and Father EW Simpkins, siblings James Henry Henley (Carrol), Edward Simpkins Jr. (Lavenia), Joseph Simpkins (Pamela) al of Saluda,South Carolina.
He leaves to cherish his memories his children:Christal Scott (Willie), Shenise O’Neal (Deric) of Orangeburg,SC and Calvin A. Simpkins of Tacoma, Washington,One sister, Semmada Gordon (William) Greer, SC. 8 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Th service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 24,2024 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 25,2024 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulation.
