Dr. Beverly Yvonne McCullough, of 104 Frazier Lane, Orangeburg, South Carolina, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, becoming an “Ivy Beyond the Wall”. Dr. McCullough was born in York County, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Mr. James Theodore and Dorothy Davis McCullough, whom she affectionately referred to as “D-O-T.” She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Mrs. Marion E. Feely, and sister-in-law, Mrs. Rose McCullough, both of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Dr. McCullough accepted Christ during her early years as a member of New Mount Olivet A.M.E. Zion Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She served faithfully in many capacities to include Children & Youth Usher Board and the Children & Youth Choir. After declaring Orangeburg, South Carolina as her “home away from home”, she joined Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Adult Choir, Voices of Faith, the Women’s Ensemble, Bereavement Hospitality Committee, and the Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee (SPPRC).
Dr. McCullough graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1982. Upon graduation, she pursued the field of higher education at “Thee South Carolina State College (University), Orangeburg, South Carolina. Beverly crossed the “Burning Sands” becoming a member of Beta Sigma Chapter of her beloved Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority, Incorporated, Spring 1984. She enthusiastically embraced all aspects of sorority life. In 1986, Beverly earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Accounting in 1987. Upon completing her Graduate Degree, she became a loyal Sister of South Carolina State University’s Alumni Association. In 1997, Dr. McCullough returned to South Carolina State University earning a Master’s Degree in Counseling, an Educational Specialist Degree in 2004, and obtained her Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership in 2007.
A passionate and dedicated educator, Dr. McCullough began her illustrious career in Clarendon County School District for over twenty years as an Elementary and High School Counselor, Special Education Director, and Principal at Summerton Early Childhood Center.
Later in her career, Dr. McCullough served eight years in Allendale County School District as Principal of the Allendale-Fairfax Early Childhood Center in Allendale, South Carolina. Dr. McCullough was employed with the Orangeburg School District as the 10th and 11th Grade High School Counselor at Lake Marion High School.
Beverly was known for her infectious enthusiasm, and unwavering commitment to her students’ success. She was a mentor and inspiration to others by encouraging them to pursue careers in education and other related fields.
Dr. McCullough believed that each child had the potential to learn and thrive. She tirelessly worked to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all children. Beyond her dedication in the educational realm, Dr. McCullough was committed to caring and mentoring youth through the South Carolina Youth Advocacy Program.
Beverly was truly a devoted South Carolina State University Bulldog and Carolina Panthers Football Fan. From the first “snap of the football beginning each season,” Beverly could be found either in the stadium on Saturdays or in front of the television on Sundays. She was an avid football fan of her favorite teams. Dr. McCullough will be deeply missed and remembered for the enthusiastic, joyful manner in which she embraced life while making an indelible mark upon whomever she met.
Dr. McCullough leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Mr. Emory K. McCullough, Sr. (Brandy) of Rock Hill, SC and Emerson M. Hubbard (Tiffany), of Sumter, SC.; four granddaughters, Enacence McCullough, Natasia Whitlock, both of Rock Hill, SC, Essence Smith of Fort Mill, SC, and Mahogany McCullough of Rock Hill, SC; three grandsons, Arteasa Whitlock, Emory McCullough, Jr., both of Rock Hill, SC and Everett Hubbard of Sumter, SC., three great-granddaughters, Nevaeh McCullough, Navi McCullough, both of Rock Hill, SC, and Eiress Hooper of Fort Mill, SC; one great-grandson, Tralen Byers of Rock Hill, SC; three brothers, Mr. Harold E. McCullough, Mr. Donald A. McCullough (Mary), and Mr. Ronnie E. McCullough (Ellen) all of Rock Hill, SC; three sisters, Ms. Patricia A. McCullough, Mrs. Barbara J. Turner (Roy) and Mrs. Mattie R. Brown (Louis), all of Rock Hill, SC; two aunts, Mrs. Jessie Hoyles of Rock Hill, SC; and Mrs. Sheila Ross of Detroit, MI; one brother-in-law, Sonny Feely of Rock Hill, SC; Special Friends, Sheila Mack, Olivia Glover, Yvonne Johnson, Desiray McCoy, and Angela Owens; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and Sorority sisters.
The service will proceed as follows:

A funeral will be held on Friday, July 25,2025 at Trinity United Methodist Church 185 Boulevard St. Orangeburg, SC 29115 beginning at 1:00pm.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, July 26,2025 at Rock Grove AME Zion Church 1460 Margaret St. Rock Hill, SC 29730 beginning at 1:00pm.
