Mrs. Betty Jean Hayward Owens loved and cherished by so many. Mrs. Betty was born on July 25th 1956 in Orangeburg, SC. She was the daughter of the late Claydean and James Heyward.
She was a graduate of Orangeburg Wilkinson High School. She also attended South Carolina State University majoring in criminal justice. She also studied cosmetology. Mrs. Betty enjoyed cooking and working various jobs throughout her life.
Betty joined Emmanuel AME Church at an early age. Mrs. Betty had a heart pure as gold and everyone she encountered she left a lasting impression on. Mrs. Betty spoke her mind and you had to know her to love her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lewis Owens Jr. She was also preceded in death by her brother Alexander Hayward, her sister Mary Maggaline Hayward Wright, her brother Edgar Lee Hayward, her brother Herman Hayward , and her sister Christine Williams.
She leaves to cherish four kids; Tomeka Hayward, Michael Hayward, Michelle Hayward (Mark), and Robert Hayward all of Orangeburg, SC. Nine grandchildren; Jaquan, D’Arius, Rashad, Romecia, Marcasia, Rashinee, Markell, Michael Jr. and Robert Jr. III all of Orangeburg, SC. Seven great grands; Nai’Jaye, Jaiden, Jackson, Ava, Aiden, Braxton, and Mackenzie of Orangeburg, SC. Her loving sister Emma Reid of Cordova, SC. One Step-sister Shirley Mae Stevenson of Orangeburg, South Carolina; Her brother in law Harold Owens of Jersey City, New Jersey; One daughter in law Angel V Hayward of Columbia, SC and a host of nieces and nephews; a special niece Denise Wright (Ernest); three special cousins; Martha and Mary Goodwin of Cordova, SC and Diane Vanzego of Bamberg, SC. Two godchildren; Keona Monroe and Fabian Simmons of Orangeburg, SC and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 3,2025 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 6:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 4,2025 at Glover's Funeral Home beginning at 1:00pm. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
