Mrs. Betty Sue Bowman was summoned by God’s Heavenly Angels on Monday, May 18, 2020 at The Regional Medical Center. Daughter of the late Joe Louis Stokes and Leila Mae Stokes, she was born on January 8, 1960 in Orangeburg County.
Betty grew up and was educated at Branchville High School and completed her nursing degree at OCTEH.
She was a member of Kingdom Living Outreach Ministries in Bowman, SC.
For many years Betty was an employee at New Beginnings and Edisto Convalescent in Orangeburg, SC. She was a faithful employee for both companies.
She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her quick wit and smart funny remarks, guaranteed to keep you on your toes and keep you smiling. She left a lasting impression on all those she met, her spirit will truly be missed.
She was preceded by parents, Joe Louis and Leila Mae Stokes; and late husband Freddie Lee Bowman and son Johnathan Myron Stokes.
Those remaining with loving and precious memories include her five sisters, Leila Ann (John Henry Mack) of Bowman, SC; Lorraine (James Green) of Chapin, SC; Ivory Della Stokes of Columbia, SC; Catherine (Andre Friskco) of Bowman, SC; Joyce Marie Miller of Bowman, SC; four daughters, Tashonda (Matthew Hardy) of Gaston, SC; Kisha Bowman of Columbia, SC; Tanicka Bowman, of Columbia SC; Deshera Bowman of Columbia, SC; three sons, Jerrold Stokes of Orangeburg, SC; Fredrick Bowman (Tabia Bowman) of Columbia, SC; Deshay Bowman of Columbia, SC; one great grand, a host of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Friday,May 22,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 1:00pm until 7:00pm.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday,May 23,2020 at Guinyard-Dwight Cemetery in Bowman,SC beginning at 11:00am. Services will be streamed live on our Facebook page Glover's Funeral Home of Orangeburg. All those attending must adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
