Bea Evans, a warm and friendly lady, is also a tenacious and dedicated professional, as reflected in her performance as a guidance counselor at South Carolina State College (University), Claflin College (University), and South Carolina public schools.
Her work with Church Women United has been continuous with the Orangeburg Unit since 1965, its inception. She has served as Church Women United's State Treasurer and Church Women United's State Assistant Secretary. Locally, she participated in the ecumenical celebrations and annual meetings. She attended the State Assembly held in Orangeburg, SC, and served a chairperson for numerous planning groups.
In her Church, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, she was president of the Baptist Training Union, the Floral Club, the Orthodox Baptist Women's Missionary Association, and the Harvest Tea Rally. She served as secretary and later as the vice president of the Deaconess Board, Ward #4 Treasurer, Women’s Guild Executive Board Member, first president, Sunday School Teacher, and was the chairperson of several Church committees.
In the community, she was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; the United Way; The Robert Shaw Assembly #330, Order of Golden Circle; Orangeburg Chapter of Links, Inc,; Jeddah Court #86; the NAACP; Order of the Eastern Star; VFW Post #8166; The Regional Medical Center Volunteer Services; Greater Santee Literacy Council - former president and Board Member, and the Sunlight Community Club. She received honors for her work from the United Way Board, the South Carolina Mental Health Board, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Floral Club, Notable Americans; Holly Hill Primary School; and Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
Mrs. Evans received her baccalaureate degree from South Carolina State College, the M.Ed. degree in education, and certification in counselor education. She retired as an elementary school guidance counselor with Orangeburg County School District Three.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Shaw Evans, Sr., her father, the late Nathaniel Singleton, and her mother, Bertha Singleton, as well as seven siblings: Nathaniel Singleton, Jr.; James Singleton; Helen Singleton; Ruth Singleton; Robert Singleton; Carol Singleton; and Mingo Singleton.
She leaves to cherish her memory of her three sons, Robert Shaw Evans, II, Dr. Fredrick Marshall Gary (Michelle), James Malcolm Evans, five granddaughters, Diva Alexis, Brionna Nicole, Makayla Beatrice Raven, Shannen (Tony) Ebony Parker, Shania Truasia Holliday, and a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces.

The viewing will be held on Sunday, May 18,2025 at Glover's Funeral Home from 3:00pm-6:00pm.
The family will receive friends from 3:00pm until 4:00pm.
A wake will be held from 4:00pm until 6:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Monday, May 19,2025 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church beginning at 11:00am. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
