Mr. Anthony Govan affectionately called “Govan” by his wife, “Black”, “Belly” and “Hump” by his family members, was born on September 1, 1970 to Clyde and Henrietta Govan.
Anthony was educated in the Orangeburg County public school system and was a 1988 graduate of Orangeburg Wilkinson High School. He was employed by Ryder, Inc.
Anthony like to joke around, cook on the grill and be around his family and friends. He was quiet and soft spoken until you got to know him. Anthony was an exceptional card picker and gift giver, that is how he expressed love to his wife.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 18 years, Jonona A. Govan; three kids: Antshana L. Govan of Columbus, Georgia, W. Faybien Givens and Xavier A. Govan, both of Orangeburg, SC; three grandkids: Justice N. Lewis of Columbus, Georgia, Kalila Douse and Fayth Givens of Orangeburg, SC; one sister, Della M. Govan of Orangeburg and one brother, Richard Govan, Sr. of Atlanta and special sister, Denise Green of Hempstead, NY; two special nieces: Tyisha U. Green and Tynasha Greene both of Orangeburg, SC; two nephews: Richard Govan, Jr. of Atlanta, and Tevin M. Govan of Orange-burg, SC; one great nephew, Cameron A. Green of Orangeburg, SC; in-laws: Raymond (Georgia) Dantzler; two sisters-in-law: Jamillah Nelson of Greensboro, NC and Janet Greene of Cordova, SC; aunts/uncles: Febbie Ryant of Cope, SC, Mary Alice Green of Hempstead, NY, Mary Ann (Edward) Moorer of Orangeburg, SC; Henry Green of Atlanta Georgia, Harry (Elizabeth) Green of Cope, SC, Arthur (Mary) Green of Orangeburg, SC, Marion Green of Hempstead, NY, James (Joyce) Green of Orangeburg, SC; Three Best Friends: Victor Frazier, Steve Patterson and Terry Rivers all of Orange-burg, SC and a host of nieces nephews and other loving relatives.
Anthony was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Nathaniel Green.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 23,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home from 2:00pm until 7:00pm.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 24,2021 at Heavenly Rest Memorial Park beginning at 11:00am.
