Mrs. Annie Bell Starkes-Bowman was born July 10, 1951 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina to Mrs. Thelma Starkes-Shuler and the late Mr. Willie Summers. She departed this life on July 23, 2020 at the Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She is proceeded in death by her father Willie Summers and siblings Annie Logan and Lee Earl Carson.
Annie grew up in Orangeburg, SC and attended Orangeburg Public Schools. At an early age she joined Pineville United Methodist Church in Bowman, SC. Annie was employed at Jeanville, Bowman’s Truck Stop as a supervisor and cook, Howard Johnson Hotel as a housekeeper and later a housewife.
Annie was s a people’s person that knew everyone, and it seemed everyone knew her. She lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cracking jokes and cooking her delicious meals.
Annie leaves to cherish her loving memories: her devoted and loving husband of 30 years, Daniel Clay Bowman; of the home; three loving daughters: Patricia Bookard (Roland Jr.), Bowman, SC; LaKesha Starkes, Bowman, SC; Tyeshia Commodore, (Rashaud), of Summerville, SC; two devoted sons; Gregory Starkes, Orangeburg, SC; and Kevin (Christa) Starkes, Orangeburg, SC; along with seven siblings: Patsy Johnson, Bowman, SC; Freddie (Karen) Shuler, Elloree, SC; Jacob (Hilda) Shuler, Smoaks, SC; Larry (Charnise) Shuler, Orangeburg, SC; Cynthia Shuler (Vernon), Orangeburg, SC; Nelson (Kathy) Summers, Orangeburg, SC; and Lillie Nelson; aunts and uncles; Daniel Starkes, Ruth Preston, and Johnnie Mae Starkes; brothers and sisters in law; Gloria McMillian, Orangeburg, SC; Frank Bowman, New York; and Dora Gaddis (Wilbert), Orangeburg, SC; grandchildren; Felicity Bradley, Fabian Williams, Breanna Green, Sharouda Bookard (Jordan), Gregory Starkes, Jr., Rolandra Bookard, Jazlin Starkes, Tyshawn Starkes, Ke’Asia Starkes (Tyleki), Dedrick Starkes, Kevin Starkes, Jr., Kanasia Starkes, (Patrick), Roland Bookard, III, Keyshawn Starkes, Zyrell Robinson, Chelsea Starkes, James Wade, Rashaud Commodore, Jr., Madison Commodore, Cameron Commodore; great grandchildren; Peyton Price, Skylar Wilson, Kaisen Davis, Gionne Pelzer, Haleigh Jackson, Baby Starkes (unborn); Special daughter; JoAnn Neals; Special Friends; Margarett Austin and Maxine; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
