Mr. Andrew (Junior) Gibbs was born off Hyman Road in Florence County, SC to the late Mary (Tenda) Gibbs. Mr. Andrew retired from Albermarle Corporation after over 37 years of faithful service. Andrew was a member of Edisto Lodge #39, Robert Shaw Wilkinson Consistory #220, Jeddah Temple #160, Honorary Past Master of Edisto Lodge and Honorary Past Potentate of Jeddah Temple #160. Mr. Andrew held the position of Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America and Volunteered his services as a driver for disabled veterans to and from their appointments after his retirement from Albermarle Corporation and a member of VFW Post 8166.
Mr. Andrew was raised in the home of Henry and Ida (Singletary) Gibbs by his grandparents along with his uncles and aunts, whom all preceded him in death. His uncles: Charles, Matthew, James and George Washington Gibbs; his aunts: Annie, Gusta, Vera, Rebecca and Bertha Gibbs; four siblings, Charles Burse, Alice Moble, Ida Mae Robinson and Cassie Robinson.
Mr. Andrew served in the Military (Army) during the Korean War where he served honorably for many years. Upon returning home, he married, Violet (Cockfield) Gibbs who also preceded him in death.
Mr. Andrew leaves to cherish his memories, three children; Craig A. Conner (Shirley) of Orangeburg, SC, Timothy L. Conner (Patricia) of Cibolo, TX and Angelia T. Gibbs (Derrick) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Mr. Andrew’s siblings include; Annie Ruth Jackson, Andrew Jackson, Edith Rose Jackson, Jimmy Jackson, Leverne Jackson, Ossie Burse; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, in-laws; a host of nieces, nephews, close relatives, one special cousin who he grew up with like a sister, (Starlene), many, many close friends, church members and co-workers.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Saturday, November 13,2021 at Glover's Funeral Home from 3:30pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church beginning at 2:30pm. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
