Alvin J. Singleton

Alvin J. Singleton, known to the family as Boo, is the beloved son of the late Mr. Isador Morrell, Jr. and Ms. Carrie Cofield of Gifford, South Carolina. He was born on January 20th, 1964. Alvin received his early education in the public schools of Hampton County. During this time, he was an active member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Gifford, SC, before he relocated to Orangeburg, to live the rest of his years. Alvin extended his education at Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College, where he pursued his passion for HVAC. In Orangeburg, he met the lovely Lorraine Fields, and the two joined in union, leading to the birth of his two beloved children, Matthew J. Singleton and Angeline L. Singleton. Alvin began his HVAC venture with Sears; he was employed for eleven years, followed by employment with the local TRMC, then established his business "Sing Heating and Cooling". 

During his time on earth, Alvin enjoyed fishing trips with his dear Uncle John, claiming the title of Grill Master Singleton, and schooling Matthew on Gospel music, but most of all, he relished his relationship with God. On Janu-ary 4th, 1998, he received the Holy Ghost and faithfully served at Living Vine Worship Center in Orangeburg, SC, for 15 years until his death. 

Alvin's heart was big. He not only had a special love for his immediate family; he extended his love to other fami-lies and friends. 

In the days ahead, we will remember his unwavering love and compassion for others. However, he will be missed the most by his two children: son, Matthew J. Singleton and daughter, Angeline L. Singleton of Orangeburg, SC; and their beloved mother, Lorraine Fields Singleton; three brothers: Bernard (Charmine) Cofield of Long Island, NY, Andre Cofield of Columbia, SC, and Trevor (Pleshette) Cofield of Brooklyn, NY and host of uncles, aunts, niece, nephews, cousins, as well as special friends held dear to his heart.

The service will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Thursday, December 17,2020 at Glover's Funeral Home at 12:00pm until 7:00pm.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 18,2020 at Mt.Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 743 Sumpter St. Gifford,SC beginning at 12:00pm.
