Life is a precious gift from God. It is with faith that we lay our loved one away with the hope of meeting our beloved Alma again. Alma “Moody” Hampton-Haynes was born in
Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Rayford and Lucinda Taylor Hampton. She was the youngest of five children born on July 31,1947. She expired on Friday, July 28,2023 at MUSC Health of Orangeburg.
Alma grew up in a Christian home and joined Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. Later on in life, she became associated with Living Vine Worship Center.
Alma attended the public schools of Orangeburg County. She was a graduate of Wilkinson High School Class of 1966. She worked in the sewing room at Amblers, she was a door greeter at Walmart, and she worked in food services at Atlas.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband; Raymond Haynes, two brothers Raymond Hampton and Wade Hampton, two sisters Vernell Smith and Mildred Fersher-Bovian.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories; one son Rodney Haynes; two daughters Chanta Haynes and Alicia Haynes all of Orangeburg, SC; eight grandchildren; Rodriquez Haynes, Rigule Haynes, Ariana Wilson, Skye-lee Colter, Steven Baxter, Seth Garvin, Sage Garvin, and Summer Jones; one bonus daughter Yolanda Hampton; four sisters-in-law Karen Hampton of
Atlanta,GA, Barbara Haynes and Diana Haynes Miller both of Winston Salem, NC and Janet Haynes of San Antonio,TX. She will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Alma loved gardening (vegetables and flowers) and working at the family owned Fish Market. However, with fond memories of Alma and faith in God, the family will remain Hampton-Haynes strong.
The service will proceed as follows:
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 2,2023 at Glover's Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 7:00pm.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 3,2023 at Living Vine Worship Center 294 Murray Rd. Orangeburg, SC beginning at 2:00pm. All those attending service must wear a mask and adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations.
