Virginia Dykes Reed

Mrs. Virginia Dykes Reed was born on October 3, 1929 in Orangeburg County (North, SC). She was the daughter of the late Abraham Dykes and Essie L. McMichael. She gained her wings on August 3, 2019 at the Regional Medi- cal Center of Orangeburg following an extended illness.
Virginia was educated in the public school systems of North, SC and Washington, DC.
Virginia joined Jerusalem Baptist Church at an early age. She was married to the late Pastor Grover Reed, Jr. To this union six children were born.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband: Pastor Grover Reed, Jr.; daughter: Virginia Ruth Reed Reddish; son: Grover L. Reed and grandson: Derrick L. Reddish.
Virginia leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories one daughter: Barbara Jackson; three sons: Thaddeus (Charlene) Reed, Stanley (Burnell) Reed and Erskine (Gloria) Reed; a special granddaughter that was reared in the home: Jacqueline R. (Mark) Elmore and a host of other grands and other relatives and friends. She also leaves a special caregiver: Mrs. Elizabeth Bowman.

Services will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Glover’s Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 8:00pm. 

The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Jerusalem Baptist Church located at 7134 North Road in North, South Carolina 29112 beginning at 11:00am.
