Rev. Charlie Haynes Obituary

REVEREND CHARLIE HAYNES, of 1426 Ridgewood Drive, Orangeburg, SC was born March 16, 1926 to Mrs. Idella Mosley Haynes and Mr. Anglo-Saxon Haynes. He entered eternal rest at the Regional Medical Center on Saturday March 09, 2019 following a brief illness.

He attended the public schools of Calhoun County. He was employed with the former Meat Packing Company of Orangeburg, South Carolina and retired after over 30 years of service with South Carolina State University in the Physical Plant. Reverend Charlie Haynes also served in various capacities within the St. James District Church of God but most notably as a preacher. Reverend Charlie Haynes lastly, pastored at St. Mary Church of God in Denmark, South Carolina.

Rev. Charlie Haynes was most notable to all who knew him as a “FISHERMEN”. There probably was not a lake, creek, or pond he did not fish at, in Orangeburg, SC and surrounding areas. He was known to give a stranger the shirt off his back. He proudly took care of and supported his family and instilled in them early on “The WORD of GOD”.

Rev. Charlie Haynes was a loving father, spiritual father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, friend, mentor, pastor, counselor, and a comedian to the many, many of people he knew and touched a many, many of people’s lives in his “NINETY-TWO” years on this earth. He will undoubtedly, greatly, and emphatically be missed and remembered by all.

In 1945 he married the love of his life, the late Mrs. Janie B. Goodley Haynes and to this union six children were born. Three children preceded him in death; Joseph Haynes, Janet Haynes Mintz, and Charles Haynes Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory: One sister, Minister Alice Haynes Ross of Jacksonville, Florida; Two daughters, Evangelist Harriette (John) Glover of Snellville, Georgia and Mrs. Patricia (Arodoundar) Johnson of Lithonia, GA; One son, Deacon Clyde (Rebecca) Haynes of Orangeburg, SC; Eleven (11) grandchildren, Mr. John Glover, Jr and Mr. Jason (Sheila) Glover of Snellville, GA, Mrs. Pamela Glover (Frank) Cain of Stone Mountain, GA, Ms. Herlita Johnson and Ms. Maria Johnson of Decatur, GA, Mr. Ronjerald (Keisha) Haynes of  Virginia, Dr. Celestial (Earl) Davis, Ms. Angela Mintz, Mr. Corey Haynes, Ms. Tosha Haynes of Orangeburg, SC, and Ms. Altricia Green of Columbia, SC; 31 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.

 

Services will be held as follows:

The viewing will take place on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Glove'rs Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 8:00pm.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Columbia Road Church of God located at 2485 Columbia Road in Orangeburg, SC 29118 at 11:00am.
