Pamela Y. Johnson, was born November 12, 1957 to Rev. Benjamin Franklin Palmer and Annie Ruth Palmer in New York City, New York. She attended Public Schools PS-197 and I.S. 10 Frederick Douglass. She later moved to Eutawville, SC with her family and graduated from Roberts High School in 1974. She always had a desire to be a nurse and attended Benedict College in Columbia, SC for a few years.
Pamela Y. Johnson, known as the “Singing Evangelist” served faithfully at United Holiness Church of Christ Deliverance Center for almost 30 years under the Leadership of Apostle Grant Wilkerson, (Ocala, FL) at her home church in Santee, SC under the Leadership of Pastor Raymond Smith and Pastor/Missionary Edna Holliday. She served as a Missionary, Choir Director, Praise and Worship Leader, and a member of Anointed Voices. Missionary Pamela Johnson loved to sing and travel with her church. She also loved to spend time at family gatherings singing and having a holy ghost time. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
She worked at Husqvarna in Orangeburg, SC as an Auditor until she became ill.
She is survived by her parents Rev. Benjamin F. Palmer and Annie Ruth Palmer (Eutawville, SC), husband Harry Johnson (Santee, SC). Five Children, whom she loved dearly: Nathan Terrell Palmer (Atlanta, GA), La’Shawna Mitchell (Craig Mitchell), West Palm Beach, FL, Kenya Palmer Mack (Travis Mack), Columbia, SC, Shanita Palmer (Bowman, SC), and Maurice Johnson (Orangeburg, SC). Three grandchildren: Armani Mack, Ivory Brown, and Nathan Palmer Jr. Five siblings: Alexander ‘Gary’ Palmer (Columbia, SC), Gwendolyn Gadson (James Gadson), Columbia, SC, Pastor Benjamin Josiah Palmer, (Felicia Palmer) San Francisco, CA, Fushia Palmer Benjamin, (Sidney Benjamin), Columbia, SC, Vivian L. Palmer (Killeen, TX) and her best friend and sister in Christ Missionary Debra Wardlaw.
Services will take place as follows:
The viewing will be held at Glover's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 12:00pm until 8:00pm.
The service will be held at Greater Target AME Church located at 7248 Old State Rd in Holly Hill, SC 29059 on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11:00am.
