Leroy Rivers

Leroy Rivers, Jr. was born in Orangeburg County on December 18 1946 to the late Leroy and Lessie L. Rivers. His earthly life ended on August 30, 2019 at Pruitt Health Home Hospice in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
He was a faithful member of Beauty Hill Baptist Church Where he served as chairman of the Trustee Board for ap- proximately 28 years. He was also a member of the male chorus. Leroy attended church faithfully until his health be- gan to fail.
Leroy received his formal education at George Washington Carver Elementary and High Schools where he graduated in 1965. He attended Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical School where took up diesel.
Leroy was employed by US Plywood, Utica Tools, Salley Manufacturing Company and Wolfe Glass Company all in Orangeburg, SC.
He leaves the following loved ones to cherish his memories, Shane (Raashen) Rivers Washington of Corinth, TX; his devoted friend/caretaker: Annette Miller of Cameron, SC; her two grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Ashauntae and Daniel; one aunt: Eartha Amaker of Orangeburg; a first cousin: Eartharene Pough; a devoted friend who stood by him: Joe and Dorothy Glover; Seven first cousins of Colum- bia, SC: Stanley (Sherry) Rivers, Dorothy (John) Friday, Earnestine Rivers, Carolyn Brooks, Sylvia (Danny) Joy, Madeline Diamond and Charles Rivers; Rosalind (Robert) Freeman of Lithonia, GA, Kenny Livingston of Orangeburg, SC and many other cousins, neighbors, friends and church members who will miss him.

The Services will proceed as follows:

The viewing will be held on Monday, September 2, 2019 at Glover’s Funeral Home at 2:00pm until 8:00pm. 

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Beauty Hill Baptist Church located at 2883 Neeses Highway in Orangeburg, South Carolina beginning at 11:00am.
