Leon Byrd

God in his infinite wisdom, breathed life into Mr. Leon (Lee) Byrd on November 19, 1949 in Branchville, South Carolina. Mr. Byrd was the son of the late Willie and Lillie Mae Bowman Byrd. He was called into eternal rest on August 22, 2019.
Mr. Leon Byrd received his education in the Orangeburg County Public Schools. He was a devoted husband and father. He joined Mays Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age. He later moved his membership to Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully as Trustee.
Leon worked at Bimbo Bakery for forty-one years until he retired May 2010.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Mr. Clarence Byrd.
Leon leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 46 years: Geneva C. Byrd; three children: Leon O’ Brian (Ayanna) Byrd of Elizabeth City, NC, Katina (Shon) Bryant of Irmo, SC and Davita Byrd of Branchville, SC; eight siblings: Christine (Frank) Aiken, Maggaline (Jerome) Parker of Branchville, SC, Pauline Behling of Orangeburg, SC, Willa Dean Owens of Rock Hill, SC, Emma (Willie) Lewis of Summerville, SC, Frank (Sharon) Byrd and Hercu- les Byrd both of Orangeburg, SC and Lillie Bell (Pernell) Fogle of Branchville, SC; three grandchildren that he adored: Bri’Yanna Byrd, Talia Bryant and Xavier Bryant; sisters-in-law: Brenda Pelzer of Rowesville, SC and Mary Sweat of Orangeburg, SC; brother-in-law: Melvin Sweat of Orangeburg, SC; aunts: Emily Dixon and Barbara Graves, both of Orangeburg, SC, Marie Byrd and Willie Dean Byrd both of Branchville, SC; uncles: Leroy Byrd, Jackie Byrd and Tommy Byrd all of Branchville, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held on August 26, 2019 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church located at 935 Calhoun Street in Rowesville, South Carolina beginning at 11:00am
