Eleanor Heyward Youmans Washington Obituary

was born February 12, 1942 in Allendale, SC the daughter of the late Clinton Heyward Jr. and the late Daisy L. Youmans Heyward Daniels.  She was reared in the home of her Grandmother Mrs. Mary Jane Youmans, uncle the late Mr. Arthur Youmans and aunt the late Lila Youmans Brown.

 

Eleanor received her early education at St. Anthony Catholic School, Tompkins H.S. In Savannah, GA and CV Bing H.S. Allendale, SC.  Furthered her nursing career that she mastered for over twenty-five years. She attended Mott Community College, Flint, MI and Orangeburg, SC Tech College.  She retired from private duty nursing in 2006.  Besides a career in nursing, she worked in other capacities during her lifetime.  Including Orangeburg Community Policing and as a foster mother for Orangeburg County.

 

She dedicated her life to helping others and seeing others happy made her happy.  She was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Roosevelt Washington.  For 31 years, to this union seven children were born.  Three sons preceded her in death.  Dave, Gary and Mike Washington.

 

At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized at the Virgin Mary Baptist Church, Allendale, SC.  Later attended Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Flint, MI. Her family was among the first families to form the Damascus Holy Life Baptist Church, Flint, MI (The late Rev. S.B. & Mrs. Martha Harrison, Pastor where she worked in many capacities of the church.  Upon relocating to SC she joined the Salley Chapel (Edisto Fork) U.M. Church in Orangeburg, SC and attended the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.

 

She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, writing, Jeopardy and create floral arrangements.  She prided herself in being the family historian.  Her love for God, Family and others brought her through many trials and tribulations.  She was a member of Adah Chapter 180 & The Rosa B Crawford Lodge Order of Eastern Stars, Flint, MI.

 

Cherishing loving memories are her children:  Two sons  Mr. R. Anthony Washington and Mr. Jeron D. Washington.Two daughters: Ms. Lila J. Washington Cooper and Ms. Rhonda L. Washington Fails all of Charlotte, NC.  Five grandsons: Andre Washington and Michael  Washington II, Orangeburg, SC; Deshawn Washington, Columbia, SC; Anthony Fails and Kevoni Fails, Charlotte, NC.  Three granddaughters: Antoinette Washington (Tremaine), Takeena Fails and Diamond Cooper all of Charlotte, NC.  Nine Great-grand sons and One Great-granddaughter.  Sisters: Ms. Linda Daniels and Mrs. Lois (Lee) Robinson, Savannah, GA and Ms. Patricia Spencer, Jacksonville, FL, Brother, Mr. Ossie R. Daniels Jr., Washington. Sister-in-laws, Ms. Dorothy Gilchrist, Augusta, GA and Ms. Carolyn Watts, Martin, SC. Special relatives and friends including Youmans family, Mrs. Algenia (Gordon) Grant, Asheville, NC, Ms. Mildred Johnson, Ms. Florie Franklin & Ms. Betty Wade of Orangeburg, SC. Mrs. Alice Rutherford, Mrs. Mary A. Breedlove and the Harrison Family of Flint, MI.  Cousins, nieces and nephews whom was all special to her.
