Clarence Shuler Obituary

Clarence Albert “Al” Shuler, son of the late Mr. James D. and Alberta Shuler, was born October 5, 1957, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. After sixty grateful years, God decided to call him to eternal rest on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Trident Medical Center North Charleston, following a brief illness.

Al was a graduate of the Class of  1977 at Bowman High School, where he met his high school sweetheart and later married the love of his life. He was employed with Sunbeam Bakery, Earthgrains, and now Bimbo Bakery for thirty-one years until his retirement.

Al, also known as a telemarketer, loved calling his family especially his nieces and nephews. In his spare time, you will find Al at a racetrack,  fishing with his mother-in-law, “Bertie,” helping others, and spending time with the general wife, sons, grandchildren, and family.

He’s preceded in death by four brothers, Fred Dantzler, Joseph Jamison, Romeo Shuler, Earnest Shuler, one niece, Roshunda Shuler, and two brothers-in-law, June Johnson and Henry Corbit, and a nephew. J. D. Hart.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving, devoted, beautiful, and caring wife, Wanda Elaine Shuler; two sons, Darence (Charlotte) Shuler of Bowman, SC and Albert J. Shuler of Orangeburg, SC. Three grandchildren, Darence “D.J.” Shuler, Daren “Flexie” Shuler and Cayla “Cay Cay” Shuler. Two brothers, Ray (Lorraine) Shuler and Robert Shuler of Orangeburg, SC; Four sisters, Lula May Johnson of New Jersey, Doris Corbit, Jackie (Jeffery) Hart and Rosa Lee Shuler, all of Orangeburg, SC; Mother-In-Law, Bernell Butler of Bowman, SC, two sisters-in-law, Debra (Clifford) Fair of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Shamain Mack of Bowman, SC; brothers-in-law, Donald Backmon, Zachary (Shama) Backmon, both of Greensboro, NC and Mario (Beatrice) Backmon of Columbia, SC; God-Daughter, Asheria Shuler-Haigler of Orangeburg, SC and a special son Marcus Shuler of  Omaha, NE, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that he truly loved.
