Betty Paige Obituary

Mrs. Betty Jeanette Robinson Paige, 78, daughter of the late Norman Robinson Sr. and Gladys Keith Robinson, was born on April 12, 1942 in Orangeburg, SC. After an extended illness, she was called home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2019 at her residence in Orangeburg, SC.

Betty joined Andrew Chapel Baptist Church at an early age. She attended faithfully before moving to New York and after returning to Orangeburg. She was a member of the Usher Board, assisting various commitee's when needed. She attended Sunday school at Andrew Chapel and bible study at the Community Bible Study of Orangeburg, SC. Betty received her high school diploma from Bethune High School and her Master's form South Carolina State University.

She was a devoted wife to Melvin Paige for 44 years.

Betty started teaching at Ruffin High School before moving to New York where she worked as a Social Worker for many years. Upon returning to Orangeburg, SC, Better resumed her teaching career at Holly Hill High School. She also taught at Carver-Edisto Middle School, Edisto High School, Adult Education at Edisto High School and Denmark-Olar High School where she retires.

Betty was preceded in death by five sisters; Ezelle R. Smith, Carolyn Robinson, Geneva R. Benjamin, Murlene R. Haigler, Beulah L. Cunningham and three brothers; Abraham A. Robinson, Sr., Norman Robinson, Jr. and Willie L. Robinson.

Betty was firm believer in the extended family and helped raise several of her nieces and nephews along with her daughter.

She leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories; her husband, Melvin Paige of Orangeburg, SC, her daughter, Sharon Y.. Robinson of Englewood, NJ, three sisters; Barbara J. Robinson of Orangeburg, Sc, Loretta R. Tally and Loraine R. (Ralph) Baxter of Columbia, SC, two brothers-in-laws, four sister-in-laws, six grandchildren including her special granddaughter, Pamela Hogan and six great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friend, as well as a special friend who considered her like the sister she never had Mrs. Jacqueline H. Ellison.

 

Services will proceed as follows:

The viewing will take place at Glover's Funeral Home on Thursday, July 4, 2019 from 1:00pm until 8:00pm.

The service will take place Andrew Chapel Baptist Church located at 3670 Five Chop Road in Orangeburg, South Carolina, 29115 on Friday, July 5, 2019 beginning at 1:00pm.
